Praise Notes: A Testimony by Brandi Dixon

As a former member of the rector search committee, I want to give praise to God for His answer to prayers. As I look back on how the Lord moved in this process from beginning to end, I am struck with an enduring sense of awe and gratitude.

From the beginning of this process, my prayer was that the Lord would send us not just a man who was a great follower of Jesus, a great leader, and a great fit.  In addition to all those things, my specific prayer was that the Lord would send us a man—the manwho was very specifically and unmistakably (both in the minds of our search committee and of this man and his wife) called to this position.  I can now say that in ways even beyond my expectations and hopes, the Lord has answered those prayers.

After the process concluded with a call being issued to (and answered by) Bryan, I was able to compare notes with Bryan and his wife Laurin.  Upon comparing those notes, we have, indeed, each seen remarkable ways in which the Lord was preparing Bryan and Laurin for this specific time and guiding them into this specific call at this specific church.  The string of “coincidences” that we have seen throughout this process with the Whites – all of which point to this clear calling to St. Peter’s – are essentially statistically impossible, but for the hand of a sovereign and loving and prayer-answering God.

I can’t wait for Bryan and Laurin to hopefully share some of these workings of the Lord in this calling with each of you in the months ahead!  I know that for me, seeing the Lord’s hand at work in confirming this call over and over has been a source of great joy and encouragement about what He has in store for our community in the months and years to come.

I believe that so much power for ministry can be found in simply knowing and walking in your specific calling from the Lord.  To that end, words cannot really express how grateful I am to the Lord for answering our prayers and so clearly confirming this call for both us and the Whites.  All praise and glory be to Him.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (Philippians 4:19-20)
