Pastoral Care

Compassionate care

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
— Col. 3:11-13

Exhibiting the compassion and concern of Christ, St. Peter’s ministers seek to meet the pastoral needs of the St. Peter’s congregation and surrounding community through conversation, intercession, visitation, encouragement, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, Eucharistic ministry, and ministry to physical needs. At the heart of St. Peter’s pastoral care ministry is the desire to provide compassionate care to our members in need as a tangible witness of the presence of Christ in our midst. Our pastoral care team attends to the needs of church families in times of joy and sorrow and provides resources for spiritual health.

Pastoral Care

Deacon Karen Mahler coordinates the various areas of pastoral care to ensure that the needs of the congregation are being met. She and the clergy team make pastoral calls, hospital visits, and provide Eucharistic ministry, prayer and pastoral support.  Email Karen or call her at the church office at 205-879-7173 or at 205-542-2640 if you have an urgent prayer request, pastoral care need, or if you would like to join the pastoral care team.

Meals Ministry

Ashley Turner leads this important ministry, providing meal support to our church family during times of illness, birth, death, crisis, or when there is a need.

Card Ministry

St. Peter’s sends caring words of support and encouragement to those who are going through a difficult time. Leading this special ministry are Carolyn Lagroue, Catherine Senko, and Lynn Wheeler.
