Exhibiting the compassion and concern of Christ, St. Peter’s ministers seek to shepherd the needs of St. Peter’s congregation and surrounding community through conversation, intercession, visitation, encouragement, pastoral counseling, spiritual direction, Eucharistic ministry, and ministry to physical needs. At the heart of St. Peter’s pastoral care ministry is the desire to provide compassionate care to our members in need as a tangible witness of the presence of Christ in our midst. Our pastoral care team attends to the needs of church families in times of joy and sorrow and provides resources for spiritual health.
Pastoral Care Team
Deacon Karen Mahler coordinates the various areas of pastoral care to ensure that the needs of the congregation are being met. She and Bishop William Wilson make pastoral calls, hospital visits, and provide Eucharistic ministry, spiritual direction, prayer support and counsel. Email Karen or call her at 205-542-2640. Email William or call him at the church office: 205-879-7173. If you would like to be a part of the pastoral care team, please let Karen know.
Senior Pastor Mark Quay provides pastoral support for men in the areas of crisis management, conflict resolution and conciliation, life coaching/spiritual direction for young adults, and addiction recovery. Email Mark or call him at the church office: 205-879-7173.
Ashley Turner leads our meals ministry, offering meals to our church family during times of illness, birth, death, crisis, or when there is a need. Please contact Ashley (email@example.com or 205-871-1980) if you are in need, or if you know of a family or parishioner who would benefit from the help of a meal.
Email Intercessory Prayer
The intercessory email prayer ministry is an important part of pastoral care led by Kay Alton. Kay sends prayer requests to intercessors when a prayer need is brought to her attention, keeping members interconnected and updated on a regular basis. Contact Kay at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be part of this ministry or if there is an urgent prayer request to be communicated.
Prayers of the People
Corporate prayers are offered every Sunday during our worship service because we believe in God’s loving power working through the united prayers of the St. Peter’s family. Please contact Karen at (email@example.com or 205-542-2640) if you or your loved ones would like to be remembered by name during the Sunday worship service.
St. Peter’s sends caring words of support and encouragement to those who are going through a difficult time. This is a thoughtful way of reminding parishioners that they are loved and remembered in prayer. Carolyn Lagroue and Catherine Senko currently head up this special ministry.
