SPCM Check-In Safety Procedures

It is our joy and privilege to care for and shepherd your children, and we take very seriously the responsibility of ensuring both their safety and wellbeing. Whether our children's ministry has one child or hundreds of children, we want to ensure that each one is well-loved, cared for, and safe. With that in mind, we have implemented a check-in process for all St. Peter’s events for children 6 months through 5th grade. Please help us keep each of our children and their families safe by familiarizing yourself with our check-in and safety policies.

The system we are using is Check-Ins by Planning Center. It is a fast and efficient, “stress-free” way to care for our families, support serving childcare and team members, and create a safe space for children and their families. Check-Ins is extremely user-friendly and built to support both small and large churches.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact Camdon Frazier, the Director of Children’s Ministry, or Andrew Russell, the Assistant Pastor for Families and Youth.

The Check-In Process

How the Check-in Process Works

if your child is already in the system

Go to the check-in cart and tell the SPCM team member your child’s name and what classes your child will be attending. Your child will receive a sticker that includes their name, a security code, any allergies or medical conditions, and what class(es) they are attending. You will receive a matching security code.

if your child has never been checked in before

An SPCM team member will enter your child’s basic information into our check-in system: name, emergency contact information, birthday, allergies, and medical conditions. Our team member will also enter the list of people who are approved to check out your child. Once your child is in the system, we will check them into their class(es), and they will receive the same security sticker described above.

When and Where to Check In Your Child

9:00 am community groups, nursery, and kids discipleship

Check your child in between 8:45-9:00 am outside the door of whatever class they are attending. Children 6 mo. – Pre-K will be checked in at the nursery. K–5th grade children will be checked in at the Kids Hall.

Note: If you check your child in for 9:00 am, you do not have to check them in again for Kids Worship during the 10:00 am worship service.

10:00 am worship service

If you arrive only for 10:00 am worship, check-in will be in the Ark (just outside the sanctuary). It is our preference that you check your child in between 9:50-10:00 am. However, if you are running late, check-in will be available until 10:10 am.

How to Check Your Child Out

9:00 am kids discipleship

After 9:00 am Kids Discipleship, you will pick up your child from the same location in which you dropped them off. Simply show the SPCM team member the code that matches your child’s sticker, and you may then leave with your child. If your child will attend Kids Worship, keep your code so you can check them out again after Kids Worship.

10:00 am worship

If your child is in the nursery, you will pick up your child from the nursery during the Peace. Show the SPCM team member the code that matches your child’s sticker, and you may then go back to worship with your child.

If your child is in Kids Worship, you will pick up your child in the Ark during the Peace. Show the SPCM team member the code that matches your child’s sticker, and you may then go back to worship with your child.

Questions You May Have

what if I’m a visitor?

If you’re a visitor, it only takes a few minutes to enter your child into our system. All we need is your child’s name, birth date, and emergency contact. This only needs to be done once.

If you do not want to enter your child into the system, we will give them a stick-on name tag with a colored dot. You will receive an informational card with the same colored dot that describes the timing and flow of the worship service so you know when to pick up your child.

What if I’m late to the 10:00 am worship service?

If your child is 6 months - pre-K, simply go to the nursery and the check-in process will be the same.

If your child is K - 5th grade, the check-in cart will be available in the Ark (outside the sanctuary) until 10:10 am.

If you arrive later than 10:10 am, you will need to accompany your child to the back of the sanctuary during the dismissal of children and check them in before they leave for Kids Worship.

If you arrive after the children have been dismissed for Kids Worship, accompany your child to the Kids Hall and check them in there.

what if I forgot to check my child in before the service?

When children are dismissed for Kids Worship, our SPCM team will check each child for their sticker. If your child is not checked in, they will be sent back to you to remind you to come check them in quickly and receive your code before they go to Kids Worship.

If you are a visitor, our SPCM team will provide your child with a stick-on name tag with a colored dot. They will then send your child back to you with a corresponding informational card, which describes the timing and flow of the worship service so you know when to pick up your child.

do I have to check in my child for 9:00 am and 10:00 am separately?

No! You only need to check your child in one time. They can be checked in for both 9:00 am and 10:00 am worship at the same time.

If I have a child who is nursery-aged as well as a child who is elementary-aged, can I check them all in at the same location?

No, you will need to accompany all your children to their individual classes and check them in at each location. This helps to ensure that none of your children are unattended while they are in the building.

do i need to check my child in on special occasions, such as a Wednesday night worship service?

Yes. It is our goal to ensure the safety of all children within the care of St. Peter’s. If your child is in the nursery, Kids Discipleship, or Kids Worship, they are required to be checked in.

can i check in someone else’s child?

Yes. We just ask that you keep in mind that the only person who can check the child out will be the person with the corresponding security tag.

what if i lose my security tag?

Don’t worry! If you have misplaced your corresponding security tag, notify one of our SPCM team members and they can confirm your identity through your state-issued ID.
